Travel Team Tryout FAQ
1. Who should join our tryouts for travel soccer?
Motivated players at any level of experience seeking to take their soccer skills to the next level through professional coaching and training provided at our club. We welcome all U7/U15 Boys (2019-2011) and U7/U16 Girls (2019-2010).
2. How do I sign up for tryouts?
Players interested in trying out for a DC Way Academy team for the 2025–2026 season (beginning August 2025) can complete their tryout during our Summer Camp.

Then, either:
Email amalia@dcwayacademy.org to schedule a one-hour tryout window or drop in for a one-hour evaluation during camp hours listed on our website. A coach will observe and evaluate your player during that time.
We have a $25 fee for the new players.
3. What is the tryout schedule?
Players interested in trying out for a DC Way Academy team for the 2025–2026 season (beginning August 2025) can complete their tryout during our Summer Camp.
Tryout evaluation windows (one hour only):
Morning: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
Afternoon: 1:00 PM–3:00 PM

4. What should I bring?
Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes prior to the tryout start time to sign in and warm up. Players should wear cleats, shin-guards, and bring a water bottle. Please wear a T-shirt and shorts. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate, adoption certificate, certificate of naturalization, or passport as sufficient proof of the player’s age.
5. How many tryouts do I need to attend?
While DC Way Academy will hold 2 tryout dates, players only need to attend 1 tryout to be considered.
6. What if I am sick or injured during tryouts?
Please contact the appropriate coach/team manager and he/she will advise you on how to proceed. DC Way Academy Travel Administrator, Amalia Proper, is available by email at amalia@dcwayacademy.org.
7. What if I missed tryouts?

8. When will I find out if I have made a team?
We will extend offers by phone and/or email in the days following the conclusion of tryouts. Once commitments have been secured, team rosters will be formed.
9. If I made a team, when will I have to commit?
You will have to make a verbal commitment within 48 hours after the offer.
10. What if I do not make a team?
There are options available to you such as camps and clinics to help further your soccer development. We encourage players who do not make the team to try again the following year.
