6. Educational Exploration: Kids explore the history and legends of Brazilian soccer through engaging activities woven into every camp day.
Soccer, Art & Explore Camp
Every morning starts with soccer on Stuart-Hobson’s beautiful turf fields. Kids work on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control through fun drills and small-sided games where everyone gets lots of touches. We connect soccer to the day’s exploration theme whenever we can. The focus is on having fun, improving skills, and playing together.
After soccer, the day shifts into exploration mode. Each theme brings a new challenge, a new way of looking at the world, and a new set of questions to answer together. Groups stay small so every kid stays engaged and nothing gets missed.
Then comes the art room. Whatever they explored that day becomes something they create. They go home with a finished project and a story to tell.
A Week of Discovery & Adventure
| Days | Themes | Activities |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | DC Detectives | Morning soccer drills and games with a mystery twist. Then kids put on their detective hats, follow clues, and solve challenges inspired by DC history. Art project: Design your own detective badge or draw the mystery you solved. |
| Tuesday | Engineering & Architecture | Soccer skills and small-sided games to start the day. Then kids explore how DC's most iconic buildings and structures were designed and built. Art project: Sketch a building or build your own 3D structure with materials. |
| Wednesday | Environmental Heroes | Morning soccer tournaments with a nature theme. Then kids learn about green spaces, ecosystems, and what it means to protect our city. Art project: Create nature-inspired art or design your own environmental poster. |
| Thursday | Art Around Us | Soccer challenges to kick off the day. Then kids explore different art styles, from murals to sculptures to street art, and find out what makes each one unique. Art project: Create your own artwork inspired by a style we explored together. |
