Tryout Information
Travel Tryouts
Spring Season tryouts are open, and we're looking for players who want to be part of something bigger.
At DC Way Academy, it's not just about the training (though that's top-notch). It's about being part of a team that challenges you, a community that supports you, and a program that helps players grow both on and off the field.
If your child is ready to take the next step in their soccer journey, to compete at a higher level, learn from experienced coaches, and be part of a club that truly invests in player development, we'd love to meet them.
Tryouts are open for U7/U15 Boys (2019-2011) and U7/U16 Girls (2019-2010). There's a $25 fee for new players.
Tryouts will happen during regular practices on these dates:
February 9–13
February 17–20
Once you register through PlayMetrics, we'll reach out with all the details including tryout dates, times, and locations.
If you have any questions, feel free to email Amalia at amalia@dcwayacademy.org.

At DC Way Academy, tryouts are where we get to see what players can do. Our coaches will watch players in drills, small-sided games, and scrimmages to assess their technical ability, game understanding, and how they work with teammates.
Our coaching staff brings years of experience in player development. During tryouts, every player gets individual feedback so they know where they stand and what to work on, whether they make a team or not.
Tryouts are open to both experienced players looking to compete at a higher level and newcomers ready to commit to serious training. If your child is ready to be part of a competitive soccer community that values development and teamwork, we'd love to see them at tryouts.
Register now and come show us what you've got.
Selection Process
Our tryout process is straightforward and transparent. Coaches evaluate players based on technical ability, game understanding, tactical awareness, and how they work with teammates.
After tryouts, every family will receive an acceptance or denial letter via email letting them know the results.
Players who make a team will train with experienced coaches focused on developing well-rounded players who understand all aspects of the game, not just one position. We prioritize technical development, tactical intelligence, and building players who can adapt anywhere on the field.
Why DC Way Academy?
At DC Way Academy, we don’t just train players — we develop complete athletes with intelligence, creativity, and resilience. Our mission is to create an environment where every player thrives, both on and off the field. We combine modern coaching, science-based training, and unmatched dedication to player growth.
Whether your child is just beginning or pushing toward elite levels, DC Way offers the tools, vision, and care needed to unlock their full potential.
Here’s what makes us different:
1. Top-Level Turf Facilities
We train at some of the best turf fields in Washington, D.C., including the RFK Fields, Gallaudet University, Eliot-Hine Middle School, and Stuart-Hobson Middle School. These fields provide a consistent and high-quality playing surface that supports safe, technical, and high-intensity development.
2. Highly Trained and Caring Coaches
Our coaching staff is hand-picked for their qualifications and their character. We hire coaches who care deeply about the players and are here for the right reasons — to develop athletes and people.
3. Advanced Video Analysis System
We record matches using multi-angle Veo cameras. Our video analyst, David, and his elite Italian team deliver detailed reports that fuel focused, data-driven training sessions and player-specific improvements.
4. Individual Player Pathways
We speak with each family to ensure players are placed on the right team, in the right environment. Our goal is to challenge every player while supporting their confidence and growth — on and off the field.
5. Comprehensive Development Philosophy
Our methodology is rooted in neuroscience and complex systems thinking — meaning we train players to think, adapt, and respond under real game pressure. We develop not just skills, but game intelligence.
6. Reliable Support Team
From registration to scheduling, our administrative staff is responsive and dedicated to making every family’s experience smooth and positive.
7. Exclusive Year-Round Benefits
All DC Way Academy members receive a 10% discount on DC Way programs including camps, clinics, private lessons, and birthday parties.
