Can’t commit to a club but want to play organized soccer games? Pickup Soccer is open to all and free for our academy players! DCWA coaches will be there to monitor the games. Our goal is to get children to play soccer in our community and to have a blast. Bring your friends and family for a fun and friendly soccer match!
Pickup Soccer will be held from 6-7 pm on Fridays at Brentwood Hamilton Park Field.
What is Pickup Soccer?
Pickup Soccer is a game that encourages players of all skill levels and ages to play without coaches or pressure.
In many cultures, children grow up playing Pickup Soccer from the moment they are able to walk. And sometimes earlier! Learning the beautiful game of soccer is like learning a language. The younger you are to master basic soccer skills, the more fluent you will be.
Benefits of Playing Pickup Soccer:
One of the biggest advantages is that the game is the teacher. Players can experiment and learn from their mistakes or successes. Therefore, they become more confident in the game and are not afraid to try new things.
Players will improve their communication skills. Due to having little coach involvement during the games, players will need to communicate with each other more often. This way, players understand the game better and decide on their own.
It helps to relieve stress at any age and provides the opportunity to make new friends and grow in the game.
Pickup Soccer promotes self-development. Skills and individual footwork are encouraged when playing in small groups. This helps build the player's ability to handle the ball and confidence.
During the games, players must play at both ends of the field. As a result, players learn to support each other and switch from offense to defense. Pickup soccer also emphasizes the need for depth and width within the game.
