How We Build Match Reports Step by Step at DC Way Academy

At DC Way Academy, the final whistle doesn’t signal the end of the match—it signals the beginning of a deeper process. Because for us, football is not only about what happens on the field, but how we learn from it. In this blog, we’ll walk you through how our detailed match reports are created, who’s involved, and why this process is essential for true development.

1) Match Recording – It All Starts With the Footage

Every analysis begins with Veo’s AI-powered camera system. These cameras automatically follow the ball, cover the entire field, and provide high-quality panoramic footage.

These recordings aren’t just for highlight reels—they’re the foundation of everything our analysis team builds.

“The camera doesn’t just capture the action—it opens the door to insight and growth.” – David

2) Review & Tagging – Where Observation Becomes Insight

After the match, the footage is reviewed by our analysis team:

  • David (Video Analysis Manager)

  • Toti (Technical Director – supervisor and integration lead)

  • Two professional Italian analysts

Using the Veo Analytics platform, the team:

  • Tags key moments (goals, defensive errors, passing sequences, pressing phases)

  • Codes player behaviors (positioning, decision-making, movement off the ball)

  • Creates time-stamped, structured breakdowns of in-game sequences

“Tagging isn’t just marking minutes—it’s tracking a player’s mental journey.” – David

3) Technical-Tactical Analysis – Turning Moments Into Meaning

At the heart of each report is a desire to understand not just what happened—but why.

The team focuses on:

  • Build-up structure and rhythm

  • Attacking threats created through positioning and movement

  • Defensive shape, pressing patterns, and transitions

  • Set pieces and 1v1 effectiveness

  • Individual decision-making—including off-the-ball moments

Here, Toti steps in. As Technical Director, he interprets the analysis and ensures it feeds directly into the development plans. The report becomes a training blueprint.

“Match analysis isn’t about saying what went wrong—it’s about discovering what’s possible.” – Toti

4) Coach Feedback – Information Only Matters When Shared

Once reports are ready, they’re delivered to the relevant age group coaches. Each coach:

  • Receives a tailored report for their group

  • Integrates the insights into the weekly training plan

  • Shares key patterns and trends with the broader coaching team

“A player’s development doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes a shared vision and a common language.”

5) Parent-Facing Report Versions – Building Trust Through Transparency

While the internal reports are highly technical, we also create simplified versions for parents. These include:

  • Key developmental highlights

  • The team’s general performance overview

  • Observations about behavior and attitude during the match

This makes parents an informed and active part of the journey.

“Our responsibility to families isn’t just to coach—it’s to share the journey of growth.”

6) Tools & Technology We Use

  • Veo AI Camera + Veo Analytics Platform

  • Custom-built analysis templates

  • Tagging software and time-stamped logs

  • Coach dashboards for tailored feedback

What’s Behind a Report?

That clean, structured report you see? Behind it lies:

  • Hours of footage review and tagging

  • Tactical instinct and technical understanding

  • A commitment to every player’s growth

“True development doesn’t come from random feedback—it comes from professional consistency.”
